Making Music

Congratulations Year 1 on creating some amazing instruments on Friday! This is where you can tell us about your instrument. Write at least 2 sentences. What type of instrument did you make? What materials did you use? Can you describe the sound it made? Were you proud of your creation? What worked well and what didn't work well?

  1. I made a shaker using a plastic bottle and some rice.
    I decorated it with stickers and some jewels and it is fun to shake.

  2. I made a drum.
    I used a tin can,felt,string,paddle pop sticks and plastic bottle lids. It made a deep sound.YES i like my instrument. All of it worked well.

  3. I used two glass jars and filled them with a different amount of soup mix to make percussion instruments. They made different sounds, the smaller jar made a lower sound and the taller jar made a higher sound. It was amazing. - Damon

  4. Hello, I made a guitar from a box, some string and a long roll. It makes sounds but not like a real guitar. I like my guitar alot because it has butterfly stickers on it. From OLIVIA UZELAC

  5. I used foam, bright coloured pins, elastic bands and straws to make my instrument. It is 2 in 1 as it makes a hissing sound by blowing in the straws and a boingy sound when you flick the elastics. I call it a Ukastraw. Ha Ha

  6. Hi everyone in year 1.I made a tamborine using phoam circles and plastic medals around the circle to create a tamborine sound.I was proud of my instrument and it was fun to make. From Claudia Serratore

  7. I tried to make a guitar but it didn't work :-( So i made a flute out of sticky tape and pink straws. It was my favourite colour and it made a flute sound when you blew into it.

  8. I made a guitar using a shoe box, elastic bands and a ruler for the handle. When I plucked the elastic bands, they made a twang sound. Each elastic band made a different sound, some higher and some lower. I had fun making my guitar, and I am happy how it turned out.

  9. I was making a guitar you cut out the cardboardin to a thin piece. Then you get ather piece and cut it into a rectangle. Then you stiky tape the cardboard together then you stiky tape the ruber bands.Thenyou make a hole.Seamus:)

  10. I made a guitar. I used a shoe box, elastic bands, cardboard tube, stickers, a skewer and some sticky tape. I scrape the skewer on the elastics to make the sound. I had fun making it. Anya

  11. I made a gold guitar from cardboard and used some bells to make the sound. I had awesome fun making my instrument even though I had to finish it off at home. Harry

  12. It was the best day making instruments. I made a drum set using containers, sticky tape and string. I used chop sticks as drumsticks.It was so fun..Charlie

  13. I made a tambourine.
    I made it with a wooden circle which I cover with some colored paper. I added some ribbons and bells around the edges and put glittering stickers. I made a shaking sound and also I could use it as a drum on one side. I had lots of fun making it and always playing with my tambourine.

  15. It was fun making my string guitar. I called it a GSG - a Gipps Street Guitar because I live in Gipps street. It made a sound a bit like a guitar, the thick strings sounded low and the thin strings sounded high.

  17. I made maracas. I filled 2 empty water bottles with uncooked macaroni pasta and seeds. Then I closed the lid and shook the bottles to make a loud sound. I liked the noise. By Lucas

  18. I made a stringed instrument out of rubber bands and a tin. I put some bright pink paper around the tin. I had lots of fun and it made a sound like a guitar when I strummed it.

  19. I made a musical shaker. It was made from a plastic drink bottle and had rice inside.It was decorated with crystals and stickers.It was fun to shake.

  20. I made a string instrument. It was made out of an egg carton and elastic rubber band.
    It made a string sound but did not work very well because the elastics kept coming off. I had fun making it. Domenic.

  23. I made a guitar, a string instrument. I used a box with a hole cut out of the top, rubber bands put around it and a ruler stuck on the end of the box for the neck. It makes a low sound and was great fun to play. From Oliver

  24. I tried to make a harp but it would'nt make music so I decided to make a foxwhistle.I chopped a straw and cut the top corners and I stuck it on but it wouldn't stay. I took it off and I blew hard to make a sound.

  25. I made a guitar like a few other people. I used a shoebox from my dad and cut a hole in it and an empty roll which I helped cut to make it smaller. For the strings I used some rubber bands. I am very happy with my guitar and I think it sounds great.

  26. I made a cross between a drum, a flute, a guitar and a didgeridoo. It made lots of sounds like whistling, tapping and strumming. I used elastic bands and a tube that had holes in it. I had the worst drum stick in the world, a broken pencil. I liked it was a cross of lots of different instruments.

  28. I made a maracca with two wooden spoons.
    You need two wooden spoons,sticky tape,marbles and a metal bottle tube.
    When I hit the metal bottle tube it made a shaky sound.
    I felt really excited.

  29. my instrument was a percussion instrument and a wind instrument.how i made my instrument i had an alastic band and i put it around the top of the jar.how i played it i shot the jar and then it made a sound.the other thing that i made was by putting foam in the jar and then blowing in it and it made a loude noise. the other thing that i made was by putting water in a bottle and then i shaked it and it made a watery sound.finally i made a hole on the side of the bottle an then i poked a pencil in side it kellen p.

  33. My musical instrument is made of string, nails and wood. I also made a pick out of straw. I used the pick to pluck the strings to make a beautiful sound just like a guitar.
